Το Νιτρικό Νάτριο 97% είναι ένα άλας με χημικό τύπο NaNO3. Απαντάται σε μορφή άχρωμων κρυστάλλων με πυκνότητα 2,257g/cm3. Σε υψηλότερες θερμοκρασίες (από 308°C και πάνω) αποσυντίθεται σε νιτρώδες νάτριο και O2. Έχει διαλυτότητα στο νερό 47,6% στους 25°C και 64,3% στους 100°C. Είναι ισχυρό οξειδωτικό μέσο. Το νιτρικό νάτριο βρίσκεται στη φύση σαν νίτρο της Χιλής. Βιομηχανικά παρασκευάζεται με αντίδραση διαλυμάτων Na2CO3 και οξειδίων του αζώτου.
